How it works
- Delivery notes arrive in a dedicated mailbox or are uploaded from a phone
- The system recognises supplier, number and date of the document
- It extracts items, codes, quantities, batches and recipients
- It matches supplier codes to warehouse items
- It flags inconsistent lines for checking
- It records approved documents in the management system
Compared with traditional OCR
OCR recognises characters but not the structure of the document: if a supplier changes the layout, extraction fails. A language model interprets the document the way an operator would and adapts to new formats without configuration.
Effect on the work
The operator goes from transcribing every document to checking those that are flagged. The time freed goes to activities that need judgement, such as handling non-conformities with suppliers.
