Frequently asked questions

How to read the result.

How is the cost of manual work calculated?

You multiply the people doing the activity by each one's weekly hours, by 46 working weeks and by the company's hourly cost. The result is what the activity costs each year in working time.

How do I estimate the company's hourly cost?

A quick estimate: the employee's annual cost (gross salary, contributions, severance provision) divided by the hours worked in a year, about 1,700. For an office employee in Italy it often comes to between €20 and €40 an hour.

How much of an activity can really be automated?

It depends on how written the information is and how stable the rules are. Retyping orders or delivery notes can largely be automated; activities that need judgement stay with people. We measure the exact figure during process mapping.

What happens to the hours recovered?

It isn't about replacing people: the hours freed go to the activities that fall behind today, such as following up customers, suppliers or exceptions.
